We produce exceptional single-vineyard wines that are true to their terroir. Coming from the Russian River Valley, our Chardonnay is sourced from the prestigious Ritchie Vineyard. Our Pinot Noir fruit comes from the esteemed Fort Ross Vineyard along the Sonoma coast. Our highly anticipated Metzker Family Estates Cabernet Sauvignon is from the Spring Mountain AVA atop the Mayacamas Mountain Range and will be available in 2018. Mike began roaming the Napa and Sonoma valleys as a young college student at UC Davis in 1982. An organic chemistry class in his first semester set him on course to a PhD in genetics, a tenured professorship at Baylor College of Medicine, and several biotech start-ups focused on next-generation sequencing and genomic medicine technologies.
The next two decades would find him back on these same roads forging friendships and honing a dream that would one day take shape. As his family grew, they made their way back together, breathing in the same crisp air that always felt like home.
In 2014, Metzker Family Estates was established. As the road to the top is rarely traveled alone, relationships along the way proved crucial to getting the business off the ground. Sourcing premium fruit from award-winning vineyards was paramount so Mike relied on friends and family in the business to open doors and make introductions. He then set out to find a winemaker who shared his vision for exquisite hand-crafted wines. Enter Melissa Apter Castro. She not only knew her way around Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but had distinguished herself with Cabernet Sauvignon.
Metzker Family Estates also welcomes Cameron and Adrienne Metzker to the team. They have relocated from Texas to help run the business and oversee the sales and marketing division. Together, we are proud to present our inaugural fleet of premium wines this spring, 2017.
